Each week of the NFL campaign we will sift through the deeper options at each position with an eye on identifying streaming fantasy commodities with valuable matchups to consider.Do you need replacement options for this first heavy bye week in fantasy football competition? We have some choice names to consider for those seeking widely available options at each position.QuarterbackBrian Hoyer, Chicago BearsIf you are forced to look deep into the waiver wire for a quarterback, you could do much worse than taking a flier on Brian Hoyer. Since replacing an injured Jay Cutler as the Chicago Bears starting quarterback, Hoyer has posted back-to-back games of over 300 yards passing and passed for two touchdowns in both games. His Bears draw the Indianapolis Colts, who have permitted the sixth-highest Total QBR allowed so far this early season. Such a poor performance is driven by the Colts propensity to surrender high totals of passing yardage (277 per game) and lack of forced turnovers (one interception). Look for Hoyer to continue his streak of impressive performances. --K.D.Paxton Lynch, Denver BroncosWhile our projection for Lynch this week is reasonably conservative for his first career start, there are some impressive upside ingredients we might want to consider when streaming in deeper fantasy formats. For starters, the matchup metrics are inviting, as the Falcons have allowed the most fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks this season and have pressured opposing passers on just 19.8 percent of dropbacks, fifth lowest in the NFL. Its also encouraging to consider Lynch wasnt limited to a conservative checkdown agenda in Week 4, as his average target traveled 12.46 yards in the air on his 24 attempts in Tampa last Sunday -- the highest rate of any quarterback in the league for the week. With two top wideout weapons and an offensive line that saw him pressured on just 16 percent of his dropbacks last week, Lynch is an intriguing option in his first start. --J.M.Running backWendell Smallwood, Philadelphia EaglesThough Ryan Mathews will likely return to the Eagles backfield on Sunday, Smallwoods performance in Week 3 was strong enough to earn him some touches in the Eagles upcoming game against the Detroit Lions. While Mathews was productive from a fantasy standpoint during the first two weeks, that production was driven by scoring touchdowns, not by gaining large amounts of yardage. In fact, Mathews didnt achieve a yards per carry of at least 4 yards in any of his three starts. Smallwood, however, hit that metric by gaining 79 yards on 17 carries against the Pittsburgh Steelers. As the Lions allow the third highest yards per carry in the league, dont be surprised to see Smallwood get the bulk of the work if Mathews doesnt establish himself early in the rushing attack. --K.D.James White, New England PatriotsWith the Patriots scaled-down passing game accommodating rookie Jacoby Brissett over the past two weeks and the teams clear agenda to feed early-down workhorse LeGarrette Blount to start the season, White has been somewhat of an afterthought. Even with this unfavorable setup, White is on pace for 52 receptions and should see an uptick in usage with Tom Brady returning to the field. Without much fanfare White ranked second in the NFL last season among backs in fantasy points per route run in PPR leagues with a rich rate of 0.538 fantasy points per route. Only the Bucs Charles Sims enjoyed a higher efficiency rate. With the potential for more snap and route exposure on an offense that should increase the overall passing volume, White is a widely available flex option to consider for those facing injuries and bye issues this week. --J.M.Wide receiverChris Hogan, New England PatriotsAs Jim and I compared notes, I completely forgot Robert Woods of the Buffalo Bills because I added him immediately last week in most of my leagues after the IR move of Sammy Watkins was announced. As such, I wholeheartedly endorse his recommendation. If you need to go even deeper into the waiver wire, look at Hogan. With Brady returning to the New England Patriots, too many people are predicting the return to form for Rob Gronkowski. I dont expect that to happen. Instead, look for the Patriots to feature their smaller receivers -- Julian Edelman, Danny Amendola and Hogan. There probably isnt a defensive backfield in the league that can defend that speed and if there is, it certainly doesnt belong to the Cleveland Browns. Expect for Brady to throw for 350 or more yards, which gives Hogan a decent chance at being useful this week. --K.D.Robert Woods, Buffalo BillsThis play is far more about opportunity than talent or playmaking pedigree, as Woods has claimed a rich 29 percent target share of the Bills passing offense over the past two games with Watkins sidelined. With a target on 28.3 percent of his routes and a catch on 20.3 percent of his routes over the past two games, Woods is clearly the top read for Tyrod Taylor at this point. The Rams have allowed 211.75 yards per game to receiving corps this season, fourth most in football, suggesting there room for Woods to operate given his sizable market share of Buffalos passing offense. --J.M.Tight endCharles Clay, Buffalo BillsAlong with more frequent usage for Woods, it appears that Clay will find more targets coming his way. On Sunday, against the Patriots, Clay was targeted seven times and caught five of those for 47 yards. This week, his Buffalo Bills draw the Los Angeles Rams. Through four games, the Rams appear to be proficient in stopping opposing tight ends; however a closer look shows that theyve faced only one above-average tight end (Jimmy Graham in Week 2). Expect Clay to be targeted at least seven times, which puts his floor around five catches for 50 yards, which is as good as youll get off the deep end of the wire. --K.D.Cameron Brate, Tampa Bay BuccaneersSince the release of Austin Seferian-Jenkins, Brate has been Jameis Winstons go-to possession valve, ranking second on the team in target share with 19.8 percent of the teams targets over the past two weeks while leading the team with two touchdowns over the span. This usage hasnt been particularly conservative, either, as Brates average target has travelled more than 11 yards downfield, suggesting big-play potential is present for this Harvard product. The Panthers defense has allowed the fourth-most fantasy points to tight ends this season, helping support Brates candidacy as a fine streaming option. --J.M.D/STPittsburgh SteelersMy recommendation of the Steelers isnt based on the strength of their defense, even if they pretty much dominated the Kansas City Chiefs last week. Rather it is completely based on how poorly Ryan Fitzpatrick has played the past two weeks. Granted, Fitzpatrick and the New York Jets faced two teams that were generally continued strong defenses (Chiefs and Seattle Seahawks), but some of those interceptions were caused by the changes in the Jets offense driven by injuries. Those injuries still exist, which means the Steelers should come away with at least two takeaways. --K.D.Tennessee TitansAs is almost always the case when it comes to identifying a streaming defensive option, we focus on finding choice matchups to target. The Dolphins simply havent been able to protect Ryan Tannehill this season, as he has been sacked 11 times and pressured on 29.8 percent of his dropbacks, the fourth-highest rate in the league. Tannehill was sacked five times in Cincinnati in Week 4 via a standard pass rush -- as in four or fewer pass-rushers. This marked the fourth time this season that a team has allowed at least five sacks against standard pressure, with the Dolphins having accounted for two of those games. The Titans like to blitz, as they rank sixth in the league in the rate of blitzes per dropback, so Tannehill could be under siege again with increased pressure this Sunday. --J.M.Individual defensive playersLinebackerZach Brown, Buffalo BillsA rising asset to target given he has tallied an astounding 44 tackles over the past three weeks, Brown leads all inside linebackers with a 20 percent run-stop rate on Pro Football Focus (the rate of stops made on running plays hes on the field for). ... If Brown is owned in your league, were guessing Oaklands Cory James is available. James just recently earned the green dot as the play-calling middleman for the Raiders front seven and he produced 15 tackles in Week 4. Available in over 99 percent of ESPN leagues, James is a name to target even in shallower IDP formats. --J.M.Defensive backJohnathan Cyprien, Jacksonville JaguarsFifth in tackles per game among defensive backs and on the field for over 95 percent of Jacksonvilles defensive snaps, Cyprien is enjoying a productive bounce-back season so far. Questions over his job security this offseason caused Cyprien to slip, but hes a fine DB1 given his current usage metrics. ... Chip Kellys NFL defenses have famously spent a ton of time on the field, as time of possession hasnt proved very important in his snap-happy agenda. This can help for IDP purposes, for example safety Eric Reid -- owned in just 2.8 percent of ESPN leagues as of press time -- is first among safeties in run snaps within 8 yards of the line of scrimmage. Which is to say, he has been busy in the box and is playing lots of snaps against the run, ingredients that could fuel a rewarding tackle rate for those playing in deeper leagues. --J.M.Defensive lineTrent Murphy, Washington RedskinsWe have to recognize Murphys awesome stretch of production over the past three games, as he has tallied four sacks and at least one sack in each outing. Murphy is likely a boom-or-bust option, but thats somewhat inherent when chasing sack production. ... The Denver Broncos Derek Wolfe is among the better defensive end additions to consider, as his healthy tackle rate and ability to pressure the pocket creates a uniquely high floor for an often fickle position. -- J.M. MUNICH -- Uli Hoeness is back in charge of Bayern Munich 270 days after his early release from a 42-month prison term for tax evasion. Some 7,152 club members voted by more than 97 percent for the 64-year-old Hoeness, who was the only candidate, to become president again on Friday. There were 108 votes against and 58 abstentions.Hoeness resigned from the position in March 2014, one day after he was convicted of avoiding taxes on at least 28.5 million euros ($31 million) via an undeclared Swiss bank account. He was released in February after serving half of the sentence.I made a huge mistake. I respect everyone here in the hall who didnt give me their vote because of the misdemeanor. But Ive done everything I can to correct this huge mistake, said Hoeness, who was applauded into the clubs AGM.To be standing here today, I thank my two families, mine and that of Bayern, Hoeness said. I ask you for a second chance and I promise to do everything to fulfill your expectations.Hoeness also thanked the clubs management advisory board for proposing him unanimously for the position.Dieter Mayer and Walter Mennekes were voted in as vice-presidents.So many club members showed up for the AGM that it was delayed, with Hoeness and other club officials appealing to frustrated supporters to show understanding when the 6,000-capacity venue was full.A separate 2,000-capacity tent was set up with screens to allow members to follow developments but many late-arriving fans were unhappy not to be allowed into the main venue. Some who persisted were eventually allowed in behind thhe stage.ddddddddddddayern said it now has 284,041 members, up from 270,329 last year.Outgoing president Karl Hopfner was given a standing ovation after 33 years involvement with the club.Hoeness remained close to Bayern while in custody, benefiting from a work-release program in the clubs youth department before returning to prison overnight. He spent weekends at home and was cleared for early release in January. As a player, Hoeness won the 1972 European Championship and the 1974 World Cup with West Germany and three straight European Cups -- the predecessor of the Champions League -- with Bayern before retiring in 1979 with chronic knee problems.Under his guidance as general manager, Bayern built financial reserves rarely seen in debt-ridden European soccer.Bayern announced club-record financial figures for the 2015/16 fiscal year, with turnover for the FC Bayern Muenchen AG group including subsidiaries at 626.8 million euros, exceeding the previous years figure of 523.7 million euros by more than 100 million. Profit increased by 111.3 million euros to 142.5 million. On the field, Bayern won an unprecedented fourth consecutive Bundesliga title, as well as the German Cup, while a run to the Champions League semifinals also boosted club coffers. Our members, staff and friends of the club can be very proud, Bayern deputy chairman Jan-Christian Dreesen said. The clubs expenditure was topped by personnel costs of 260.3 million euros.
