OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- The undefeated Baltimore Ravens have benched running back Justin Forsett and will start Terrance West in Sundays game against the Oakland Raiders.Forsett, the teams leading rusher the previous two years, was officially named one of the Ravens inactives. West will make his first start since the 2014 season finale.Forsett was averaging 3.2 yards per carry (which ties a career worst) and the Ravens ranked 26th in the NFL in rushing entering Sundays contest. During the week, coach John Harbaugh sidestepped a question on whether Baltimore had thought about starting West over Forsett.West, a native of Baltimore, has played for three teams in his first three NFL seasons. He hasnt been significantly better than Forsett, but he has looked more explosive at times. He averaged 4.1 yards per carry over his last two games. Buck Allen, who has been inactive the first three games, will back up West.West said this week that its been difficult splitting carries with Forsett. As a running back, you have to get into the groove, West said. You get stronger as the game goes. You have to feel the defense out, but you still have to take advantage of the opportunities no matter what when your number is called. So theres no excuses.Baltimore is looking to get back on track against a Raiders defense that ranks 29th against the run (136 yards rushing allowed per game). Teams are averaging an NFL-best 5.1 yards per carry against Oakland. We havent been able to have the continuity we want from snapping the football until the course of the back, the timing of the play, whatever it is, offensive coordinator Marc Trestman said. We are close.Rookie left tackle?Ronnie Stanley is also inactive with a foot injury. Stanley, the Ravens No. 6 overall pick, will be replaced by James Hurst. Sean Manaea Jersey . RIO DE JANEIRO -- Katie Ledecky set an Olympic record Sunday in her preliminary heat of the womens 400-meter freestyle, falling 0.34 seconds shy of her own world record with a time of 3 minutes, 58.71 seconds.Ledecky said after posting the second-fastest time in history that she purposely took it out easy.I didnt want to spin my wheels too much, so I just kind of backed off and kept it easy up front, she said. I know thats how I swim my 400 the best, when I can be strong at the end.In Sunday nights final, Ledecky will chase the 3:58.37 she posted two years earlier at Pan Pacific Championships in Australia.I know what my times are, and I have my goals, she said. The next-fastest qualifier was Britains Jazz Carlin, who was more than 4 seconds behind. American Leah Smith posted the third-fastest time in the prelims. Before the prelims, the first individual event of Ledeckys Rio Olympics, her coach, Bruce Gemmell, offered a word of warning to the 19-year-old American. He had to remind me this wasnt a hundred, Ledecky said. The issue had never been something Gemmell had to worry about beforre.dddddddddddd. But that changed after Ledecky swam the anchor leg in the final of the 4x100 freestyle relay late Saturday night. Yet she didnt appear to show any lingering effects from that race.Ledecky said she didnt get to bed until around 2:45 a.m. local time. After interviews, a warm-down swim and a massage, she stayed to eat at the Aquatics Center with food prepared by one of her favorite chefs from the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She said she slept until around 11 a.m. before heading to the pool for her 400 free prelim. In that race, she was 0.64 seconds behind her world-record pace at the halfway point before narrowing the gap to 0.03 seconds with 50 meters to go. As the raucous Brazilian crowd cheered her on, Ledecky couldnt quite finish the job.On Sunday night, the result could be different.Thats the easiest its felt in the 400, so Im excited for tonight, she said. The Associated Press contributed to this report.
