ENGLEWOOD, Colo. - Denver Broncos coach Gary Kubiak said quarterback Trevor Siemian took a big step forward in Thursdays practice as Siemian tries to work through a left (nonthrowing) shoulder injury.Siemian, who was held out of Wednesdays practice, threw in Thursdays practice as he took part in seven-on-seven work as well as individual drills. Siemian, who left the Broncos win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers just before halftime, has said he expects to start Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons.Well see how sore he is, see how hes feeling as we move to [Friday], Kubiak said. I think we took a big step forward. Well see how we comes out of [practice], see how he feels tomorrow, that will have a lot to do with it.Siemian left Sundays 27-7 victory over the Buccaneers late in the second quarter with the injury. Siemian has received treatment each day this week and will be evaluated by the Broncos medical staff once again Friday morning.Though the Broncos held Siemian out of Wednesdays practice, he did take part in the teams walk-through portions of the on-field work. Rookie Paxton Lynch has done most of the work with the starting offense in practice thus far this week, and Lynch would get the start against the Falcons if Siemian cannot play. But Kubiak said Siemian continues to improve and showed that on the practice field Thursday.Trevor threw the ball fine, but the rotation is something you have you get used to, Kubiak said. Its kind of working through a hip pointer, thats how its been described to me. ... It doesnt feel very good, something youve got to work through the soreness. But I think he took a good step.Kubiak said again Thursday he believes Siemian, because of the 24-year-olds knowledge of the playbook, could be limited in practice for the remainder of the week and still play on Sunday against the Falcons if physically able. Kubiak has said, I trust Trevor.Siemian suffered the injury when he was sacked by Buccaneers defensive tackle Clinton McDonald just before halftime. To make the tackle McDonald swung Siemian around and tossed him down directly on the left shoulder.Siemian had his first career 300-yard passing game in a Week 3 win over the Cincinnati Bengals and was 5-of-7 passing for 68 yards and a touchdown at the time of his injury Sunday. For the season the Broncos have won all four of Siemians starts and he has thrown for 824 yards to go with six touchdowns and three interceptions.
