Last weekend was the best opening set of games I have seen in my three decades of covering the SEC. I cant promise that this Saturday will give us the same amount of drama, but here are some significant storylines to watch:Kentucky tries to break the streak The last time Kentucky beat Florida in football, Ronald Reagan was president. That would be 1986 when the Wildcats beat the Gators 10-3 in Lexington. Since then it has been 29 straight years of misery for Kentucky, which has had half a dozen very close games with Florida in that span but has not found a way to win.The last time the two teams played in Gainesville, Kentucky had a 27-20 lead in the first overtime. The Wildcats forced Florida into a fourth down and the play clock appeared to wind down to zero. But a delay of game was not called and Jeff Driskel hit Demarcus Robinson for a touchdown to tie the game. Florida went on to win in triple overtime 36-30.So Kentucky hasnt beaten the Gators for three decades. Its been even longer since the Wildcats won in The Swamp, which last happened in 1979.Kentuckys stated goal this season is to get to a bowl. Its going to be hard for the Wildcats to get to six wins if they dont get it turned around soon. They host New Mexico State on Sept. 17.Tennessee and Virginia Tech make history This game has been years in the making and finally it will happen on Saturday (8 p.m. ET, ABC) when Tennessee and Virginia Tech meet at Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee. It took workers 19 days to transform the quarter-mile NASCAR track into a football facility that is expected to draw 150,000 fans, which would be a record for an American football game. The current record is 115,109 which was set during the Notre Dame at Michigan game in 2013.By the way, this is not the first time the Bristol Motor Speedway has hosted a football game as the NFLs Washington Redskins and Philadelphia Eagles played there in 1961.While everyone is getting caught up in what will be a unique event, this is an awfully important game for Tennessee. The Vols were fortunate to escape with a win over Appalachian State on Sept. 1 at home. They need to take care of business against the Hokies, who have a new head coach in Justin Fuente.Vandy-MTSU in the I-24 Backyard Brawl Vanderbilt and Middle Tennessee State are separated by only 34 miles on Interstate 24. And if history is any indicator it will be close when they meet on Saturday at Vanderbilt Stadium (4 p.m. ET, SEC Network Alternate).A year ago the Commodores needed a 39-yard touchdown run by Ralph Webb with only 1:12 left to beat the Blue Raiders 17-13. It snapped a three-game losing streak to MTSU, which posted victories in 2001, 2002, and 2005. It was Vanderbilts first trip to Murfreesboro since 1920.Vanderbilt (0-1) needs to get back on track after last weeks 13-10 conference loss to South Carolina, a game in which the Commodores led 10-0 at halftime.A few other quick storylines to watch on Saturday:Arkansas (1-0), which barely got past Louisiana Tech (21-20) will go on the road to meet TCU (1-0), its former rival in the Southwest Conference. In fact, the two teams have not met since Oct. 5, 1991, which was Arkansass last year in the SWC before joining the SEC in 1992. Arkansas won that game, rallying from a 21-0 deficit to win 22-21.A side note on this one: The starting quarterback for TCU will be Kenny Hill, who began his career at Texas A&M in 2014 before transferring to TCU. Hill sat out last season due to NCAA transfer rules.Alabama (1-0) will be going for its 16th straight win over teams from the non-Power Five conferences when the Crimson Tide host Western Kentucky (1-0).Georgia running back Nick Chubb made a triumphant return from injury when he carried 32 times for 222 yards in a 33-24 win over North Carolina. It will be interesting to see how many carries he gets in the home opener with Nicholls, especially with road games against Missouri and Ole Miss coming up the next two weeks.LSU (0-1) will try to bounce back from a disappointing 16-14 loss to Wisconsin with a home game against Jacksonville State (1-0). Remember that Jax State took Auburn into overtime last season before losing 27-20.South Carolina (1-0) will try to go to 2-0 in the SEC under first-year coach Will Muschamp when the Gamecocks travel to Mississippi State (0-1). The Bulldogs lost to South Alabama 21-20 last week after leading 17-0 at halftime.Ole Miss will debut some major renovations to Vaught-Hemingway Stadium when the Rebels host Wofford. The school has spent over $54 million on the stadium since the end of last season. Alabama comes to Oxford on Sept. 17.Auburn (0-1) needs to get back on track after losing its opener to No. 2 Clemson last week 19-13. The Tigers will start Sean White at quarterback against Arkansas State. Auburn will open SEC play next week against Texas A&M.Missouri (0-1) which lost its first game under new coach Barry Odom last week to West Virginia, hopes to fare better against Eastern Michigan. Trey Burton Bears Jersey .J. Ellis hit two-run homers and the NL West champion Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the San Diego Padres 4-0 Saturday night. Authentic Walter Payton Bears Jersey . Traditional contenders Brazil, Greece and Turkey drew the other three spots to complete the 24-team field for this summers tournament in Spain, basketball governing body FIBA announced Saturday at its meeting in Barcelona. http://www.chicagobearsshoponline.com/anthony-miller-bears-jersey.html . But when it comes to determining if Raymond will find a place on the Leafs roster when training camp concludes in a week, well, that decision will ultimately fall to the head coach. Chase Daniel Chicago Bears Jersey . The 27-year-old Scrivens will be joining his third NHL club since signing with the Toronto Maple Leafs as a free agent in 2010. The move also reunites with him with head coach Dallas Eakins from their time together with the American Hockey Leagues Toronto Marlies. Mitchell Trubisky Jersey Authentic . The Court of Arbitration for Sport ruling "puts an end to my dreams of being a top player," the 27-year-old Troicki said in a statement. "I worked my entire life for it, and it has been taken away from me in one afternoon by a doctor I didnt know," said Troicki, whose ranking peaked at No. When a player thrives statistically on a bad team, I tend to call that the Shareef Abdur-Rahim effect. This isnt a slight to Abdur-Rahim, as he put up an enduring stretch of strong numbers between stints with Vancouver and Atlanta, but rather an acknowledgment of the statistical benefits of playing heavy minutes with steady opportunities on a subpar roster. Maybe a modern hyphenated player as an example is in order, as we saw Michael Carter-Williams post impressive numbers for the Philadelphia 76ers early in his career. This season, the Brooklyn Nets Trevor Booker might be the best candidate for this brand of increased opportunity. Into his seventh season, Booker is quietly enjoying a breakout season. The Nets have been surprisingly competitive, but still field a roster that proves thin at several depth charts, namely power forward. Booker is playing a career-high 26.5 minutes per game and subsequently enjoying rewarding opportunities. The Clemson product has averaged 15.4 rebounding chances per game -- defined as being within 3.5 feet of an available rebound -- the most on the team and 26th in the league. As a result, Booker is averaging 8.5 boards, a 60 percent leap over his career clip, while the most impressive element is his elite steal rate, as hes eighth in the league in larceny so far this season.Even as we can expect some regression in the steals department, some team trends support Bookers overall rise as a fantasy asset. The Nets are just barely behind the Phoenix Suns for the top spot in pace this season, with 104.5 possessions per 48 minutes. Such an up-tempo scheme positions the Nets with a respectable offensive rating of 102.4 points per 100 possessions, thus Bookers steady share of minutes and rebounding opportunities appears sustainably rewarding. The best current stat for Bookers fantasy brand is the fact hes still available in nearly half of all ESPN leagues. While he doesnt deliver a ton of points, such helpful rebounding and steal rates indicates the market isnt appreciating the opportunity Booker is enjoying this season.Access the downloadable forecaster chart PDF hereMatchup ratings are based on a scale from 1 (poor matchup) to 10 (excellent matchup). These are calculated using a formula that evaluates the teams year-to-date and past-10-games statistics, their opponents numbers in those categories and their performance in home/road games depending on where the game is to be played. The column to the left lists the teams total number of games scheduled, as well as home games, and lists the overall rating from 1-10 for that teams weekly schedule.Ratings roundupThe Warriors net two games against the up-tempo Lakers, who are running a familiar scheme under Luke Walton, whilee the Pacers are also top 10 in pace and the Timberwolves are 28th in defensive rating.dddddddddddd Such strong matchups with added possessions earns Golden State one of two perfect ratings for the upcoming slate. The Thunder similarly face a friendly week ahead, matching with the Wolves and Kings -- 29th in defensive rating -- supports a perfect rating. As for challenging setups, the Jazz and Bulls are both saddled with two-game schedules, limiting any appeal in their respective rosters for streaming in weekly formats. The Knicks, meanwhile, face the Hornets solid defense in two of three games, as Charlotte has the fourth-best defensive rating in the league. The other brotherThe Dallas Mavericks J.J. Barea suffered a calf injury that could sideline him for more than a month. While hes no Steph, the rise of the Mavericks Seth Curry is an interesting narrative to track as hell assume a leap in minutes and usage in the wake of Bareas injury. Barea, after all, was enjoying a career-best 33.1 minutes and 13.7 shots per game, sizable leaps of his previous bests. Barea currently ranks 10th in the league in drives and 10th in frontcourt touches per game, so we find a sizable workload available for Curry, who is available in nearly 90 percent of ESPN leagues.Target the NetsHaving already discussed Bookers ascension and the Nets position as second in pace in the league, we should also detail how favorable a matchup Brooklyn proves for opponents. The Nets have some loose defensive metrics, as Brooklyn has ceded the most second-chance points per game, the most points off turnovers and the eighth most points per game on the fast break. For both streaming in weekly formats and identifying solid DFS matchups, the Nets are an ideal target.Inviting from deepThe Wizards backcourt has struggled over the past few seasons in defending deep shots, so streaming shooters against them proves appealing. When seeking a shooting specialist to stream to boost 3-point production in weekly competition, it could help to target the teams struggling to close out on the perimeter effectively. Listed below youll find the five teams surrendering the highest shooting percentage from beyond the arc this season.Generous on the glassJust as we can target weak perimeter defenses for shooting specialists, we can also attack the boards by identifying teams struggling to secure rebounds. Listed by the lowest rebounding percentages in the league -- as in the Blazers are securing a league-low 45.3 percent of available rebounds -- we can survey the most attractive streaming matchups when seeking frontcourt help.
